The Angels Voice Their Praise at the Birth of Christ

"And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, * * And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For onto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. * * And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the Heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth, peace, good will toward men" (Luk_2:9-14).

What a glory scene! The angels had been so deeply interested in the birth, that they had rejoiced and worshiped God with marvelous acclaim. Finally, God had commissioned one of their number to break the best news that the world had ever known to the watching shepherds. The words were spoken, the shepherds wondered. And then, the Lord opened the shepherds’ ears, and they heard the rapturous notes of the angels’ praise.

Not often has God permitted us to hear the angels as they bow before His throne and adore Him–this scene, therefore, becomes the more precious on that account. Oh how wonderful it will be, some day, in Heaven, to join these angelic hosts in their praise. As they praise God for what He has done for us–surely we who have been saved, shall be filled with praise.
