The Word of God presents Jesus Christ from a fourfold viewpoint. First we see Him as the Son of Man. then as the Son of Abraham, again as the Son of David and fourthly, as the Son of God. There are many who imagine that the four Gospels cover the same ground and tell the same story. They think that it was unnecessary for God to have written four times about one thing.
It is only necessary to remember that building which lies foursquare may have entirely different views from its various sides. Matthew presents Christ as the Son of David; Luke presents Him as the Son of Man; John as the Son of God; and Mark presents Him as the Servant, in which we may think of Him as the Son of Abraham.
The object of this study is to consider Christ in the one aspect: Son of Man. Some of the young people have been greatly troubled about this expression. They truly believe that Jesus Christ was Deity, the Son of God, born of the Holy Ghost and the Virgin Mary. They wonder, therefore, why He is called the Son of Man. The expression is so frequently used in the four Gospels that it must have a deep significance. May God help us to satisfy our own hearts and minds as we study together this wonderful name of Christ.
