At His Feet Restored

"Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid" (Luk_8:35).

We have before us a wonderful story. It was in the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee. In these parts out of a city there met Christ a certain man, "which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs" (Luk_8:27).

When this demoniac saw Christ, he fell down at His feet. The demons within him cried out and Christ commanded them to depart, to come out of the man and they entered into a herd of many swine and the herd ran violently down a steep place and into a lake and were choked.

What had been done, was soon noised abroad and the people of the near-by city and of the country about came to Jesus and found the man out of whom the demons were departed sitting at the feet of Jesus clothed and in his right mind.

What could be more beautiful than this and yet we have seen the same thing time and again with our very eyes.

The Lord Jesus is not dead, He lives, He still works, He is the same mighty Saviour as of yore.

Where is the city which has not seen the mighty workings of the Son of God?

Where is the city which does not remember of some one who was demon-possessed, satan-driven, but who was saved?

Where is the church which does not have some one sitting in her pews active in her service a deacon, a Sunday School superintendent, a teacher, a leader of songs, an evangelist, or preacher; some one sitting at the feet of Jesus clothed and in their right mind who used to be a chief of sinners?

Oh! the transforming power of grace! One day as we walked near the Florida line with a few friends our attention was called to a beautiful flower growing from an old decayed stump. The flower with unsullied whiteness glistened with glory. We all stood and looked, then one of us said: "It is just like Him; our God knows how to transform the filth of the swamp to the beauty of the flower."

It is just like Him to take our sins away

It is just like Him to keep us day by day

It is just like Him to make us white, to stay.

It is just like His great love.
