The Faith That Secures Access

"Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus" (Eph_3:12).

Faith shines with glory when it comes into the presence of the ascended and seated Lord. The fact is that it is faith that gives us boldness and access with confidence unto Him.

Let not him who doubteth think that he shall receive anything of the Lord. It is always "according to your faith;" it is always "whatsoever ye ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive."

Queen Esther stood at the threshold of King Ahasuerus, because she was emboldened by faith in God. Let us stand at the threshold of the throne of God, emboldened by our faith, to ask whatsoever we will, and He will hear us.

Faith always secures access to God. Even a poor Syrophonecian could not be refused her access, for she manifested a faith that Christ had not found, no not in Israel. No wonder Christ said, "Be it unto thee, even as thou wilt."

Faith always has access with confidence. Faith believes it has its petitions before it receives its response. Faith counts the deed done before the first sign of fulfillment is manifested.

How many prayers of petition ascend from the lips of God's children which are foreign to faith! Saints pour out their troubles; they ask for light on their pathway; they seek help in their service, they make petition for their daily needs, but they do it as a mere form, a sort of religious exercise, a kind of spiritual obligation, without the least semblance of faith.

How many there are, who, if they got what they asked, would be altogether surprised.

Faith, on the other hand, is the confidence we have in Him. Faith says in its heart: "If I ask anything according to His will He heareth me." Faith says, "I know that I have the petitions I have desired of Him."

"Faith is a living power from Heaven

Which grasps the promise God has given;

Securely fixed on Christ alone,

A trust that can not be o'erthrown.

"Faith finds in Christ whate'er we need,

To save and strengthen, guide and feed;

Strong in His grace it joys to share

His Cross, in hope His crown to wear."
