0884. 1. Epistle to the Romans
1. Epistle to the Romans
"For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith" (Rom_1:16-17).
This verse shows how the Book of Romans sets forth our salvation from faith unto faith. Of course, the Book does not leave unmentioned the risen Christ, but it places emphasis upon the Cross and redemption. In the first three chapters we have the effect of sin and condemnation. Beginning with the 3d chapter, Eph_1:21, and through the 5th chapter we have Christ and justification; then in chapters 6, 7 and 8 the believer and sanctification. However, those who study the Word have always looked to the Book of Romans as the great foundation testimony–justification. There we find about how the sinner comes out from under the curse and stands justified before God
