The Times of Refreshing and the Times of Restitution

We have before us the message of a fearless preacher. The one who had quailed before a maid, and refused to align himself with Christ, now Spirit-filled, stands forth with a testimony to Israel concerning her own sin and concerning the Christ she crucified.

We have before us a message addressed to the nation and not merely to the individual. It is a national appeal, a call to repentance and to return to God.

We have in this message the abode of Christ, during the time of His rejection by men.

Next we read the blessed promise of Christ's coming back again: "He shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you."

Then follows the promise of the "times of refreshing," and of the "times of restitution."

Finally we have the statement that all of these things were fully revealed by the holy Prophets of old.

The analysis of Peter's message, as tabulated above is an epitome of what the sub-divisions will develop in fuller form. The whole of this wonderful testimony was brought about by the healing of the lame man who sat begging alms at the gate of the Temple, which is called "Beautiful."

The people greatly wondered at the healing. Peter plainly told them that such things only proved that God had glorified Jesus, Whom they had killed; and that if they would repent and turn to God, then God would send Christ back again and the times of refreshing would come to them all. In the promised refreshing instead of one lame man being healed, the whole of Israel, would find healing and forgiveness in the Lord's return.

The people, nationally, refused the message of Peter; and so, unto this day the times of restitution are still awaiting the time when they shall nationally repent and be saved.
