In Whom We Have Redemption–A Forward Look

"And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption" (Eph_4:30).

Redemption has a forward look. We are awaiting the time of our redemption.

"Your redemption draweth nigh" (Luk_21:28).

"Ye are sealed unto the day of redemption" (Eph_4:30).

"Until the redemption of the purchased possession" (Eph_1:14).

"Waiting for * * the redemption of our body" (Rom_8:23).

1. The first verse refers to Israel and the time of her coming deliverance. The Lord in His glorious appearing shall deliver Israel from all her enemies, and save her from all of her sorrows. She shall be redeemed–a future work.

2. The other verses refer to saints and the redemption of their bodies. Ofttimes we are asked if we think that "Divine healing" and perfected bodily conditions are in the atonement. We always reply in the affirmative. However, the Word of God places the finished work of bodily health and healing in the future. God may heal now, and He does heal in answer to the prayer of faith, but universal deliverance from bodily ailments, and weaknesses, awaits the day of the redemption of the body, at the coming of the Lord.

He Who hath redeemed us, bought us back, delivered us from all the curse of the Law, from all lawlessness, from our past behavior, will one day redeem us from this body of humiliation with its attendant frailties and diseases.
