1234. Uncircumcision Is Not Anything
Uncircumcision Is Not Anything
"For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature" (Gal_6:15).
1. Uncircumcision stands for the Gentile and everything religious that relates to him. The Gentile was never reckoned nationally, as a people separated unto God. They stood more for the satan-dominated world; the world that lies in the lap of the wicked one; the world that walks according to the course of this age, according to the prince of the power of the air. Satan was the Gentile's god.
And yet this world was not an irreligious world. It was very religious. To be sure, the Gentiles did not glorify God as God, for they "changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image, made like to corruptible man and to birds and four-footed beasts and to creeping things." Yet, they had religion, even unto frenzy. Until this day the Gentiles of far-a-way lands, whether savage or civilized, have their own religions, and religious practices, 'both weird and wicked, which they practice. All of this is not anything.
2. Uncircumcision stands for the Gentile and immorality and unbridled corruption. The Gentiles are a people given over to lusts and evil desires. They are given up to "a reprobate mind to do those things which are not convenient;" they are filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, back-biters, haters of God, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenant-breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful.
This is God's picture of the immoralities of the Gentile world.
Surely the world with its uncircumcision is not anything. Certainly those who commit such things are worthy of death; not only that do such things, but those who have pleasure in them that do them.
3. Uncircumcision stands for the Gentile and satanic domination. This may be denied by some, but it certainly is satan's claim. The devil showed unto Christ all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them. He said, "All these will I give Thee if Thou wilt fall down and worship me." Christ did not deny satan's claim. His silence granted it. The world is lying in the lap of the wicked one. The world is like the woman bound of the devil; and like the demoniac, driven of the devil. Certainly the uncircumcision overwhelmed by the devil can not profit anything in Christ Jesus. Something must happen before such a world can have audience with God.
