Christian Giving

2Co_8:1-15

They Gave Themselves (2Co_8:5).

They Gave Willingly (2Co_8:3),

They Gave Proportionately (2Co_8:3).

They Gave Sacrificingly (2Co_8:2).

They Gave Ungrudgingly (2Co_8:4).

They Gave Joyfully (2Co_8:2).

They Gave as an Example (2Co_8:1-2).

One of the things which people need to ponder is their obligation to God in the matter of giving. The Word of God has definite directions concerning this, and we believe a profitable hour may be spent considering God's message along this line.

Giving is reckoned in the Word of God, as one of the graces. Paul says, "Therefore, as ye abound in everything, in faith, and in utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also." Too many of us imagine that liberality is not one of the results of the Spirit-filled life. We look upon the offering as a necessity, and not a pleasure. God, however, tells us that we should give "not of necessity."
