Rivers of Blessing

"Every thing shall live whither the river cometh" (Eze_47:9).

The text is a just deduction. When the Lord Jesus Christ was exalted to the right hand of the Father, and the Holy Ghost was poured forth, the river began to flow, "and whithersoever the river went, there was life." The first result of that overflowing river, was about three thousand souls baptized. Soon after, about five thousand men in all, who had received the Lord Jesus. Thus the river of blessing ran on and on, and whithersoever it went there was life.

Whole cities were moved; communities were stirred; and so great was the power of the risen Christ, that certain ones said of Paul and Silas: "These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also" (Act_17:6).

In Ezekiel the rivers ran through parched lands, but everywhere the river went, there were trees on this side and on that,–"all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to its months, because their waters, they issued out of the sanctuary" (Eze_47:12).

In Ezekiel, the waters ran down into the sea, and wheresoever the river went, the waters were healed. And the waters became filled with fish according to their kind, exceeding many.

In the Book of Revelation, where the river flows, there is found the Tree of Life, which bears twelve manner of fruit, and the leaves of the Tree are for the health of the nations.

This whole prophecy will meet its largest fulfillment in the millennial day. It is then that the Holy Spirit, in His fullness of power, is poured forth upon repentant Israel, it is then that the Feast of the Tabernacles, and the river of blessing will meet its full complement.

However, we can assure ourselves that even today, every life that is in touch with Him, is a channel of blessing.

"Make me a channel of blessing today,

Make me a channel of blessing, I pray;

My life possessing, my service blessing,

Make me a channel of blessing, I pray."
