Job's Intercession for His Friends

"My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: * * My servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept" (Job_42:7-8).

After Job had been restored, God condemned those who had so falsely accused him, and so sadly misinterpreted his sufferings. God, however, accepted Job's person, and heard his prayer in behalf of his three false friends.

In all of this, we can see the Lord Jesus. First, Christ prayed for His enemies. He said, "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do" (Luk_23:34). Secondly, at Pentecost there must have been among those who heard the Apostles, some who had helped in the actual betrayal and crucifixion of Christ. To these, Peter said, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins" (Act_2:38).

The Lord God accepted the person of Christ and heard His prayers in behalf of those who had tormented Him, and those who accepted Him were saved.

Thank God, that we have a paraclete with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. He is our Daysman; He "is the one who stands between us and God, and it is He Whom God accepts.
