The Spirit Bears Witness (1Jn_5:7).

Ye Have not His Word (Joh_5:38,Joh_5:46).

Ye Believed not that I am He (Joh_5:38).

Ye Received Me Not (Joh_5:43).

Ye Receive Honor of Men (Joh_5:44).

Ye Have not the Love of God in You (Joh_5:42).

The purpose of this lesson is not to discuss how men may be saved, but why men are not saved; not why men say they are not saved, but why God says they are not saved.

Men give many excuses for not coming to Christ. Jesus Christ our Lord described some of these excuses in the parable of the Great Supper. One man said, "I have bought a piece of land," another said, "I have married a wife," another said, "I have bought five yoke of oxen." These were the excuses rendered and they were accepted, insomuch that the Lord said: "There shall none of them eat of My Supper." There are many other excuses which we hear on every corner. One man says, "I am too great a sinner to be saved," another one says, "I am good enough already." One man says, "God is too good to damn me," another, "I am too good to be damned." One man says, "There are too many hypocrites in the church," overlooking the fact that hypocrites are all under the condemnation of Christ.

The purpose of this lesson is twofold. First, we want to present the claims of Christ, and then we want to show why men reject those claims.
