1418. Ye Have Not the Love of God in You
Ye Have Not the Love of God in You
"But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you" (Joh_5:42).
The one that loves God, is born of God. We read of those who are saved, "Ye have believed the love which God hath." The believer speaks thus: "The love of Christ constraineth us, because we thus judge, that if one died, He died for all."
There is a great deal of talk these days about God being a God of love, but that talk is surface talk. People mean by that expression that God is too good to damn them. That God is not really a God of judgment, of wrath. The Bible says that God is love. It carries you to Calvary's Cross and it says that, "God commended His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died." When we talk of a God of love, therefore we must talk of the Christ of Calvary, Who died in the sinner's stead.
We have now summed up God's reasons why men are not saved, and when we stand at last before God at the great White Throne, and when the Books are opened and the wicked are judged and the sentence is given, the wicked will pass out into eternal night. At that time the reason for his condemnation will be based upon these fivefold rejections of the Saviour, which Jesus Christ Himself set forth in the 5th chapter of John, and which we have discussed.
