1475. What We Know About the Son of God
What We Know About the Son of God
We Know the Son of God Hath Come (1Jn_5:20).
We Know the Son of God Is Love (1Jn_3:16).
We Know the Son of God Takes Away Sin (1Jn_3:5).
We Know the Son of God Is Truth (1Jn_5:20).
We Know the Son of God Abideth in Us (1Jn_3:24).
We thank God for the Epistle of John which not only tells us how we may know we are saved, as discussed in the preceding message, but it also tells us what the saved may know.
The faith of the saints is not builded upon a system of guesses.
Christ said: "We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen" (Joh_3:11).
The Bible itself is a positive Book, it is nowhere given to speculations; it states facts and never fancies.
If the trumpeter sends forth an uncertain sound, how shall they go forth to battle?
We hear a great deal of criticism during these days of preachers being too dogmatic.
The Bible is a dogmatic Book, there is not a single, "I think so," or, "I hope so," or, "Probably so" between its covers.
The Bible speaks authoritatively, its history is authoritative and final; its science is authoritative and final; its theology is authoritative and final. Not a word may be taken from it; not a word added to it.
The preacher preaches the Word, therefore, he too must speak authoritatively, finally, without a question mark anywhere in his message.
Among the many things that we know concerning the Son of God, there are a few foundation facts set forth in the Epistle of John, which will be well worth our consideration.
