Isa_9:1-7

The Forerunners of the Two Comings (Mal_4:5).

The Angels and the Two Comings (Mat_25:31).

The Signs and the Two Comings (Mat_24:30).

The Extended Hands and the Two Comings (Rom_10:21).

The Shedding of Tears and the Two Comings (Luk_19:41).

The Temple and the Two Comings (Zec_6:12-13).

National Israel and the Two Comings (Isa_62:1-2),

The Gentile World and the Two Comings (Rom_11:12).

The Kingdom and the Two Comings (Rev_19:16).

Peace and the Two Comings (Isa_9:6).

We have had various studies concerning our Lord's Return, but this time, we want to take up a comparison between the two Comings.

We will set forth one aspect of the First Advent, and an analogous aspect of the Second Advent.

We will be surprised to find how many things in the two appearings of our Lord parallel one another. Again, we will be equally surprised to see how many things are strikingly opposite.

We would press the fact that the Second Coming of Christ is just as certain as was the first. There was a time in the annals of history when both Comings were alike prophecy. The Old Testament Prophets had to receive the First Coming of Christ with the prophecies concerning His life and His death, with the same childlike trust with which they received the prophecies of His Second Advent.

We asked a minister why he accepted the statements of the First Coming of Christ literally, and spiritualized the passages concerning the Second Coming, His reply was, "I accept as literal the statements of Scripture concerning the First Coming because history has verified them; I spiritualize and accept figuratively the passages of the Second Coming because they have never been fulfilled nor verified by history."

According to his method, Abel and Enoch, Noah and Abraham, David and Daniel, could not have received any of the prophecies concerning Christ as literal.

Let us enforce the fact that He who came once in the literal fulfillment of the First Coming promises, will come again in the same literal fulfillment of Second Coming promises.

The statements of the Second Coming of Christ are just as authoritative and trustworthy as the statements of the First Coming.
