1560. How Millions Now Living Must Surely Die
How Millions Now Living Must Surely Die
"The rich man also died, and was buried" (Luk_16:22).
If millions now living must surely die, why not stop a moment and consider the circumstances that may surround them as they pass away?
1. Some will die suddenly. The one who has been often reproved, and has hardened his heart and stiffened his neck, shall suddenly be cut off. Many have gone thus, without a moment's warning–they gasped their last breath, and they were dead.
2. Some will die in mental anguish and in distress. Many men among the infidels and skeptics have passed out this way. The story of the death of Tom Paine is one of terror.
3. All will die under condemnation. Over the head of Belshazzar were the words written!–"Weighed and found wanting." "He that believeth not is condemned already."
It is an awful thing to consider the death of a man who has no Christ, no Saviour, no Rock, no Refuge.
It is a fearful thing to think of one going out without hope, aliens to the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenant of promise.
It is a fearful thing to be wrapped in a Christless shroud, laid in a Christless coffin, and placed in a Christless grave.
