One in Eternity

"Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever Thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, Thou art God" (Psa_90:2).

1. God the Father Is an Everlasting God

"The everlasting God" (Rom_16:26).

"That eternal life, which was with the Father" (1Jn_1:2).

"Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting" (Psa_93:2).

"The Lord is from everlasting to everlasting" (Psa_103:17).

The little child may ask, "Where did God come from"–our only answer is, "In the beginning God."

The mind may run on and on and on, throughout endless ages, but God Who was in "the beginning," is for evermore.

2. God the Son Is an Everlasting God

"Whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting" (Mic_5:2).

"Unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever" (Heb_1:8).

Micah was speaking of the exaltation of the little town of Bethlehem, and he said, "Out of thee shall He come forth Who is to be ruler in Israel." Micah prophesied of the manger of Bethlehem. He saw Mary laying the infant Christ by her side; and, as he saw this Child, he said of Him, "Whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting;" that is, from the days of eternity.

Upon the return of the Lord Jesus Christ to this earth, the Father gives command to the angels of God to worship Him, and He says unto the Son: "Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever."

Thus Jesus Christ is the everlasting God, equally with God the Father.

3. God the Holy Spirit Is an Everlasting God

"Who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God" (Heb_9:14).

Far back in the beginning, when God created the Heavens and the earth, the Spirit of God was there, for the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters (see Gen_1:2).

Far on in the eternal ages, the Spirit of God is present because He is the eternal Spirit.

Since Father, Son, and Spirit are each everlasting, from eternity unto eternity, therefore "the Lord our God is one Lord."
