1590. One in Glory

One in Glory

"The glory of the God of Israel was there" (Eze_8:4).

1. The Father Is Glorious

"The Father of glory" (Eph_1:17).

"The glory of God the Father" (Php_2:11).

God the Father is not only to be glorified, but He is glory. The glory of God is so marvelous that no one can look upon God and live.

2. The Son Is Glorious

"The Lord of glory" (Jam_2:1).

"The glory as of the only begotten of the Father" (Joh_1:14).

Jesus Christ was the manifestation of the glory of God. To be sure His glory was veiled, and yet, in Him we beheld the glory of the Father full of grace and truth. He was the very effulgence of His glory, and the express image of His person.

Only once or twice did the glory of Christ shine forth in His earth life. In the mountain of Transfiguration, His face was white and glistening, and His raiment shone above the brightness of the sun. In the Garden, when He was betrayed into the hands of sinners, it seems that He permitted His glory to be unveiled, with the result that they who beheld Him fell back as dead men.

When Jesus Christ comes again, He will come in the glory of the Father, and the holy angels with Him.

3. The Spirit Is Glorious

"The Spirit of glory" (1Pe_4:14).

"Shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?" (2Co_3:8).

When we behold with open face the glory of our Lord, we are transfigured into the same image, "from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord."

It is the Holy Spirit Who transforms saints into the image of the glorified Son. He can do this because He is Himself the Spirit of Glory.
