1596. One in Sealing Saints
One in Sealing Saints
"God hath sealed us" (2Co_1:22).
1. The Father Seals Saints
"Him hath God the Father sealed" (Joh_6:27).
The passage has primary reference to the Father sealing the Son. However, it is in the Son we all have everlasting life. We are sealed in Him.
God the Father is never baffled in His attempts. Those whom He foreknows, He also predestinates to be conformed to the image of His Son; those whom He predestinates He calls; those whom He calls He justifies; those whom He justifies He glorifies. When God is for us, no one can be against us.
There is nothing, neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, who shall be able to separate us from the love of God. Assuredly the Father seals saints.
2. The Son Seals Saints
"In whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed" (Eph_1:13).
The sealing is by the Holy Spirit, but it is in Christ Jesus. The Lord Jesus Christ is able to save unto the completion, He never begins a good work, and then fails before it is accomplished. The Lord Jesus can carry us through to the end, because He ever lives, and He is God.
3. The Spirit Seals Saints
"The Holy Spirit * * whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption" (Eph_4:30).
The Father seals, the Son seals, and the Holy Spirit seals. The Holy Spirit therefore is God the same as the Son and the Father are God. He does whatsoever they do. Three persons but not three Gods; our Elohim is one Lord, not three.
The Holy Spirit seals unto the redemption of the body; when we are saved we know that we are saved clear through to Glory because the Spirit of God dwelleth in us. This is God's earnest until the redemption of His purchased possession.
Blessed threefold security–sealed of God the Father, sealed in Christ the Son, and sealed with the Spirit of God.
