Three Distinct Persons Are Seen in the Commission to Baptize

"Baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost" (Mat_28:19).

Before the Lord Jesus went up into Heaven, He gave His disciples command to go into all the world, and to disciple all nations.

Those who were discipled were to be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

If the Trinity is one personality, why should the formula of baptism name three persons?

The Father is named, the Son is named, the Spirit is named; each of the three named is very God, and the three constitute one Lord, but nevertheless, there are three persons.

When we considered the baptism of Christ, we saw that the Father was there, for He spake from Heaven; the Son was there, for He was baptized; the Spirit was there, for He descended and lighted upon the Son.

We now see that at the baptism of every believer, the Father, the Son, and the Spirit each is there: One God–three personalities.
