Three Distinct Persons Are Seen in the Divine Benediction

"The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all" (2Co_13:14).

We have heard the benediction from childhood, and every time we have heard it, God has been set before us as manifested in three persons.

To be sure the benediction might have read: "The fellowship of God, the love of the Lord Jesus Christ and the grace of the Spirit;" or, it might have read: "The grace of God, the fellowship of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of the Spirit."

We say this, because the Father, the Son and the Spirit, each possess love, grace, and fellowship toward the saints. However, there is a special reason for the benediction being given as it is.

The love of God is to be with us because God manifested His love in the gift of His Son to die upon the Cross; the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ is to be with us, because though He was rich, He became poor that we through His poverty might be rich; the fellowship of the Spirit is to be with us, because He is the active agent in carrying forward the work of the Church, and we should walk and work with Him.

One thing we know–the Father and His love, the Son and His grace, the Spirit and His fellowship, present three distinct persons although the three are one God.
