170. What Is the Bible Definition of a Christian?

A Christian is (1) one who believes in Jesus Christ the divine Son of God, and that through his life and atonement we have everlasting life; (2) the Christian through his fellowship with Christ receives the adoption of a child of God (see 1Jn_3:2 and 1Jn_5:1) ; (3) he enters into fellowship and communion with God. See Heb_2:11, Heb_2:16; 1Jn_1:1-3; Pro_18:24. (4) He is sanctified and separated. See Rom_1:1-32; 1Pe_1:14-15; 1Th_5:23. (5) He is a soldier. 1Ti_6:12; 2Ti_2:3-4. (6) He is an heir of glory.
