101. Christ Crucified
There are several ways in which the crucifixion of Christ is spoken of.
1. The fact of it. The manner of His death. The fulfilment of Scripture—Joh_19:18-24.
2. The place where He was crucified: “Where our Lord was crucified”—Rev_11:8; Luk_23:33.
3. The sinful act of crucifixion. The word, “to crucify” in Act_2:23, means to fix with ill intent and act.
4. The associates of His crucifixion were two thieves—Luk_23:32, Luk_23:33.
5. The crucifixion of Christ is the theme of the Gospel—1Co_1:23-24; 1Co_2:2; Gal_3:1.
6. The subjective power of the Cross is death to self, sin, the flesh, and the world—Rom_6:6; Gal_2:20; Gal_5:24; Gal_6:14.
7. The grave consequence of apostasy from Christ is to make Him bleed again—Heb_6:6.
