141. Christ’s Compassion

Luk_7:13

Compassion reveals the tenderness of the heart of Christ and the power human grief has over Him. “Compassion” means to be intensely moved. The word is often rendered “moved with compassion.” There are seven instances where we find He was “moved with compassion”—

1. When He saw the scattered multitude—Mat_9:36.

2. When He saw the multitude of sick—Mat_14:14.

3. When He beheld the hungry crowd—Mat_15:32.

4. When He met the blind men—Mat_20:34.

5. When He was appealed to by the leper—Mar_1:41.

6. When He pictured His life’s ministry in the act of the Good Samaritan and in the parable of the Prodigal Son—Luk_10:33; Luk_15:20.

7. When He saw the widow’s grief.—Luk_7:13. He is still the same.
