309. Eunuch and Philip
As Mentioned in Acts 8
There are seven things we might briefly note in relation to the eunuch—
1. The Book in his Hand—Act_8:28. The Word of God was his study. When the Scripture forms the theme of our meditation, we are sure to become acquainted with its Author, if our search is backed up by the teaching of the Holy Spirit—1Co_2:12.
2. The Desire of his Heart. The eunuch wanted to understand what he was reading—Act_8:31-35. Philip told him of Jesus. Christ is the Key of Knowledge. If we understand Him, all is well—1Jn_5:20.
3. The Object in his Eye—Act_8:37. His attention is fixed on Christ, and he is captivated by Him to his conversion—Isa_45:22.
4. The Confession on his Lips—Act_8:37. There is no hesitation when he is asked for a confession as to his faith. When we. know Christ in the heart, there will be no trouble to confess Him with the lips—Rom_10:9, Rom_10:10.
5. The Companion in his Chariot—Act_8:31. To companion with those who know the Lord is to catch the aroma of His presence—Act_4:13.
6. The Identification with Christ by Baptism, which shows forth our oneness with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection—Col_2:12.
7. The Joy in his Soul—Act_8:39. When we know the joy of the Lord in saving us, the Lord’s joy makes us joyful—Joh_15:11.
