450. Inabilities

The word “dunamai” is variously rendered in the following Scriptures. Sometimes “can,” but we have given it “not able” in each case.

1. Inability to Change. “Not able to make one hair white,” etc. (Mat_5:36).

2. Inability to Serve two Masters. “Not able to serve two masters… God and mammon” (Mat_6:24).

3. Inability to Produce. “A good tree not able to bring forth evil” (Mat_7:18).

4. Inability to Kill. “Not able to kill the soul” (Mat_10:28).

5. Inability to Cure. “Not able to cure” (Mat_17:16).

6. Inability to Answer. “Not able to answer Him” (Mat_22:46).

7. Inability to Save. “Himself, not able to save” (Mat_27:42).
