888. Tongues

Bad Ones

The tongue if under control can be a blessing, but if it is not it will be a bane.

1. A Deceitful Tongue—Rom_3:13. A deceitful tongue is a lying one.

2. An Empty Tongue—1Jn_3:18. Talk is not help.

3. An Unbridled Tongue—Jas_1:26. Uncontrolled, the tongue is a curse.

4. A Froward Tongue—Pro_10:31. Boasting is the essence of pride.

5. A Lying Tongue—Pro_6:17; Pro_12:19; Pro_21:6; Pro_26:28. A liar is in league with the Devil, and will be shut out of Heaven.

6. A Flattering Tongue—Pro_28:23. Flattery injects conceit and leads astray.

7. A Backbiting Tongue—Pro_25:23. A backbiter not only bites others, but in the end he bites himself.
