Michael is more like a title than Jesus’ actual name. The heavenly being, Michael, is only identified as the archangel in Jude 1:9, “Michael the archangel.” What does this signify? The word “angel” means a messenger or ambassador. Archangel would include the thought of chief messenger or representative of God.
In Hebrew “Michael” is Strong’s word H4317 (Greek G3413) and means “who is like God.” Jesus is certainly Michael or “like God” in character; in purpose; in love, justice, wisdom and power.
Who was God’s agent in the creation of the world?
Before his human birth, Jesus was called the Logos. He was the “only begotten son of God,” (John 3:16). God used the Logos as His instrumentality to create everything! John 1:3, “All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” When God’s plan is fulfilled on earth and all things are restored in love, justice and perfection, then all creation will honor the Lamb (Jesus)! Revelation 5:13 (NASB), “And every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth…I heard saying, “To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever.”
