description: (hide) Ted Bowling, after hearing a discussion on a television program about "who the beautiful people are in Hollywood" reflects on what exactly constitutes beauty. God’s creation (including the sunsets and landscapes, starlight, flowers, little babies, etc.) is replete with different aspects of beauty. One form of beauty which will never pass away will be the unity of relationships emanating from God"s outgoing love, enabling a lifetime of service and sacrifice for one another. The Good Samaritan, with his concrete acts of service and sacrifice, demonstrates the kind of love we must aspire to, as contrasted with the cold sin of omission demonstrated by the priest and the Levite, who ignored the suffering victim. We need to emulate the self-sacrificing Samaritan and the behavior of our Elder Brother, a beauty which transcends any comely physical characteristics, demonstrating instead the beautiful, holy character of God, a beauty which can be shared by His called-out sons and daughters.
