Praise The Lord For Our Victorious Outcome! – Bible study

The story is told of a cowboy who one day applied for an insurance policy. The insurance agent asked him, Have you ever had any accidents? After a moments pause, the cowboy responded, Nope, but a bronc did kick in two of my ribs last summer, and a couple of years ago, a rattlesnake bit me on the ankle.

Wouldnt you call those accidents? replied the puzzled agent. Naw, the cowboy said, they did it on purpose!

Unlike the cowboy in the above story, there are no accidents in the lives of Gods children. In Genesis 37:12-28, we read about how Joseph was thrown into a pit by his brothers, and then sold as a slave to the Ishmaelites.

This was a great test of Josephs faith, because from the human standpoint, the actions of his brothers appeared to be a tragic case of injustice, not a providential means of blessing.

However, later on in his life, Joseph learned that God meant it for good (Genesis 50:20).

When we pass through deep waters of trial and disappointment (and we will), we need to understand that these apparent misfortunes are not accidents.

The Lord allows such things for the purpose of blessing us (Romans 8:28).

Therefore, let us patiently trust Him (Proverbs 3:5-6), and then praise Him for our victorious outcome! (Romans 8:31-39; cf. John 16:33; 1 John 5:4)
