Frankly, the claims that He made brand Him immediately as being God—or an idiot! The authoritative claims He made outstrip the claims of all other religious teachers in the world.

Of His own body He said, “Destroy this temple and I will raise it again in three days” (John 2:19).

He told His hearers, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven” (Luke 10:18).

He declared with authority, “Before Abraham was born, I am” (John 8:58).

He predicted that “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats” (Matthew 25:31–33).

No one else has ever been able to say, “Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear [my] voice and come out” (John 5:28–29).

No one else has ever talked like that!
