DEPENDABILITY
The root of dependability is dead in most churches, except for a faithful few, and these few have to take abuse from the unfaithful, undependable ones. The faithful few can always be depended upon and are always in evidence, so they are criticized for wanting to run the show.
Now, I want to ask you a question, and it is not something new and original. Think about your religious life, your holy habits, your church attendance, your giving to the Lord’s work, your pattern of dependability during the past 12 months.
Now, be honest with yourselves, and ask an answer of your own heart: “If everyone in this church had been exactly as dependable as I am, where would our church be today?”
That’s a question we ought to ask on our knees with tears and with sorrow, praying that God will help us to be dependable. When you are asked to do something, even if it is something simple, do it. It seems that so many of us only want to do the dramatic things—no one wants to be known as being dependable.
