HONESTY; VALUES; CHARACTER; QUAKERS

HONESTY;
VALUES; CHARACTER; QUAKERS

Do you know that one of the things that marked the lives of the original Quakers was their honest handling of the truth? They would not lie and they would not stretch the truth. They would not steal and they would not use flattering words. Someone in history wrote about the lives of the Quakers and commented that they “astonished the Christian world by insisting upon acting like Christians.” In England they were often kicked around and some languished in jail because they insisted on honoring only God and refused to bow down to people who did not deserve it. In the midst of professing Christians who generally acted like the world, the honest, God-honoring Quakers were considered queer because they sought to live as Christians should.
