CHRIST—RICHEST—A BLACKBOARD TALK
Let the speaker write the name,
upon the board. Then let him talk for a few minutes about Christ’s wonderful power. What did he do on earth, children, to show that power? He healed the sick. Think how much money he might have gained by curing lepers, and opening the eyes of the blind, and bringing people back to life!
Then, he could make a few loaves and fishes feed five thousand. Think what a rich merchant he might have become! Or, he could draw the fishes to him, and quiet the storm, and walk on the sea. Think what a rich sailor he might have been. Soldiers fell back before him. He might have been a rich general. He gathered vast crowds about him. He might have become a rich lawyer.
All this will show the children that Christ, even on earth, could have become very rich. And then think of all that he left in heaven! Draw lines from the letters of Christ’s name, and transpose them into
and ask the children what that spells.
But Christ thought little of this kind of wealth, or he would have made his followers rich in worldly goods. Yet he did make them wonderfully rich, and he makes all who love him wonderfully rich. Talk to the children about the love he gives us, and the strength, and the peace, and the joy, and the promises, and the forgiveness, and heaven.
