John R. Mott was for many years head of the Student Volunteer Movement when it was a vital force for Christ and for worldwide evangelism. When asked to evaluate his life, Mott commented, “If I had my life to live over, I would give much more emphasis to student conferences and retreats, because the benefits are far out of proportion to the investment of time and money.”234
