You’d like to have a deeper life that could be given to you with a syringe or a glass of water and a pill. “Take one pill three times a day.” You just can’t do that. But that is the way some people get their religion. They want it in pill form, so they buy books. Brethren, there is no such thing. There’s a cross, there’s a gallows, there’s a man with stripes on His back, there’s an apostle with no property. There’s a tradition of loneliness and weariness and rejection and glory. But there are no pills. It is only Himself, Himself, Himself.
