Finding The Missing Link – Bible study

At one time, tennis great Boris Becker was at the very top of the tennis world, and yet at the same time, he was on the brink of suicide. He once stated, I had won Wimbledon twice before, once as the youngest player. I was rich. I had all the material possessions I needed. I had no inner peace. I was a puppet on a string (source).

Unfortunately, Boris Becker is not the only famous person to feel that sense of emptiness. Rock and Roll artist Elvis Presley felt the same kind of emptiness in his life.

Folks, the echoes of a hollow life pervade our culture. One doesnt have to read many contemporary biographies to find the same frustration and disappointment. Renowned author, Jack Higgins, was once asked what he would like to have known as a boy. His answer was, That when you get to the top, theres nothing there (source).

Whats missing from the lives of the above people? When a person has much material goods and is still bitterly dissatisfied with life even to the point of being suicidal, theres something drastically missing.

Whats the missing link?

Answer: A close relationship with God and our Savior, Jesus Christ.

The Creator made us with a need for our lives to have meaning, purpose, and a hope that only He can satisfy. He meets this need when we enter into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

We enter into this relationship when were baptized into Christ (Gal. 3:26-27). When were baptized into Christ, we are clothed with Christ, inheriting the blessings of Christ (Ephesians 1:3).

Obeying our Lord in baptism, is the only way for anyone, famous or not-so-famous, to find the missing link in their lives.

If you havent already, wont you consider obeying the Lord today? (2 Corinthians 6:2).
