In a more recent Gallup poll, reported by Ari Goldman in the New York Times on February 27, 1993, 96 % of Americans believe in God. Among those polled 82 % identify themselves as Christians, (being 56 % Protestant, 25 % Roman Catholic), and 2 % of Americans identified themselves as Jewish.4016
