KENTUCKY,
STATE OF
(June 1, 1792), was the 15th State admitted to the Union. The Constitution of the State of Kentucky, adopted 1799, stated:
Article VI, Section 7. The manner of administering an oath or affirmation … shall be esteemed by the General Assembly the most solemn appeal to God.2073
The Constitution of the State of Kentucky, adopted 1891, stated:
Preamble. We, the people of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, grateful to Almighty God for the civil, political and religious liberties we enjoy and invoking the continuance of these blessings … establish this Constitution.2074
