WHAT is a partition? In a number of classrooms, there is a wall that can be brought down the middle so that one room can be made into two. It is a lofty thing. It is a high separation that can block one room from another or divide one room into two.

The reason for a partition is simple. It is there to decrease the possibility of noise on one side from passing to the other. If a group is meeting in one room and another group is in the other room, a partition will ensure that they do not disturb each other. The partition is designed to decrease disturbance. It is supposed to minimize the leaking of information from one space into another.

The way Satan creates a fortress, stronghold, or addiction is by creating in the mind a lofty thing, or a partition. This partition is designed to block the flow of the knowledge of God from entering into the thinking of the saint who is living in the fortress. It blocks out the free flow of spiritual truth and keeps it from crossing over into the thinking of the person in the fortress.578

A LOFTY thing creates two views on the same subject. It is like the Berlin Wall. When the Berlin Wall in Germany was up, the East couldn’t go West. The West couldn’t go East. The two could never work together, because there was a lofty thing, a wall, or a partition that divided the same group of people, the Germans, East from West. There could never be unification and flow. The people in the East were trapped. They couldn’t go West. People in the West were trapped. They couldn’t get to their families back in the East—all because of a lofty thing, a wall, which had been erected.579
