MARCH BIBLE STUDIES
Over the first two months of the year we have very carefully studied the Creation accounts and the fall of man as they are found in Genesis 1–5. This month R. C.’s teaching will cover Genesis 6–50. Obviously, at this pace most of our studies will be broad brush overviews of the biblical material.
As we survey the chronicle of Noah and the Flood, followed by the Patriarchal narratives, challenge yourself to look past the familiar elements of the stories to the larger structures. Notice, for instance, that following the Flood, sin once again expanded through mankind with devastating effects. Observe how God faithfully continued to affirm His covenant with Abraham and his descendants. Finally, take note of the humanness of the subjects. Far from being a sanctified lot, in Genesis we are confronted by earthy people living in the real world.
As you study this month, ask God to open the eyes of your heart to bring new understanding of His Word. Strive to go beyond simply acquiring new knowledge. Seek to apply what you have learned to life, to live Coram Deo, before God, and for His glory.
