People are fearful about money. According to a 2000 survey, here are some of the things they are worried about:

•     not being able to pay medical bills: 36 percent

•     Social Security going bust: 35 percent

•     caring for elderly parents: 31 percent

•     no inheritance to pass on: 22 percent

•     stock market crash: 20 percent
