Are we supposed to ask for forgiveness when we pray? I have learned that as Christians we are supposed to be righteous, so we are not sinful.

Yes, we need to ask God to forgive us for our current sins. When we became Christians by confessing our sinfulness, accepting Jesus as our Savior, and then giving our entire heart and mind to follow God’s will, Jesus’ blood covered all of our sins. However, God does not miraculously make us perfect in our … Continue reading “Are we supposed to ask for forgiveness when we pray? Why were Mary and Joseph chosen to be the parents of our Lord?

Someone wants to rid my home from any evil spirits by saying prayers and burning sage. Is this Biblical?

Yes and No.  Praying is always appropriate when you feel evil approaching; however, burning sage to ward off evil spirits is not Biblical. Throughout history, people have created many rituals to banish evil spirits.Yet, none of these rituals were designed nor blessed by God. No scripture even mentions the sage plant! The Bible does give an answer … Continue reading “Someone wants to rid my home from any evil spirits by saying prayers and burning sage. Is this Biblical?”

If the Hebrew language is of afro-asiatic origin, and our Savior spoke Aramaic, then is it rational to conclude that Jesus may have been a person of darker color?

Although there do exist Ethiopian Jews, Jesus' Semitic ancestry is traced in detail in the Bible all the way back to Abraham.  His mother, Mary, and step-father, Joseph, were required to return to Bethlehem in Judea, their place of origin, to register for the Roman census, and there Jesus was born. The Semites as a … Continue reading “If the Hebrew language is of afro-asiatic origin, and our Savior spoke Aramaic, then is it rational to conclude that Jesus may have been a person of darker color?”

What does Proverbs 13:22 mean? "A good man leaves an inheritance for his childrens children, but a sinners wealth is stored up for the righteous."

This verse is so encouraging! It shows that a person who seeks and follows God’s ways does have a valuable inheritance to pass on to generations to come.  In contrast, the wealth of one who does not live according to principles of righteousness will not have something of value to pass on.  “Ill gotten gains do … Continue reading “What does Proverbs 13:22 mean? Is there a special position for praying? Some say praying while standing or walking does not respect God.

In Mark 11:25, Jesus said, "Whenever you stand up to pray, if you have anything against anybody, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your trespasses."  (Moffatt Translation of the Bible) In Matt. 6:6, Jesus said, "But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy … Continue reading “Is there a special position for praying? If "has stayed together" means that the couple has been living together as husband and wife, though unmarried, this is a situation which should be remedied.  While it is commendable that the woman wishes to marry, their current living condition is referred to scripturally as "fornication".  "Let marriage be honorable in all, and the bed undefiled, … Continue reading “A couple has stayed together. Can we show Jesus to hurting people by ministering without words but with actions of gentleness, KINDNESS, compassion, and TENDERNESS?

All scriptures are quoted from the NIV Bible. Yes!  Gentleness, kindness, compassion, and tenderness are all expressions of love.  God is love; and "the Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being." (Hebrews 1:3), so Jesus is also love.  Love for God and for others should be the foundation … Continue reading “Can we show Jesus to hurting people by ministering without words but with actions of gentleness, KINDNESS, compassion, and TENDERNESS?”
