Why did Peter says in Acts 3:25 that the Jews were of the covenant God made with Abraham when in Galatians 3:16 it says that the seed referred to in that covenant is Christ? How could that be when the Jews had not yet accepted Christ?

Acts 3:25 states, “And you are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham, ‘Through your offspring all peoples of the earth will be blessed.’”  This promise was given to Abraham in Genesis 22:18 and again to his son Isaac in Genesis 26:4. The original covenant … Continue reading “Why did Peter says in Acts 3:25 that the Jews were of the covenant God made with Abraham when in Galatians 3:16 it says that the seed referred to in that covenant is Christ? What did the Apostle Paul mean when he said, “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord?” What happens when we die?

“For we that are in this tabernacle [earthly body] do groan, being burdened [oppressed by the evil influence of the world]: not for that we would be unclothed [lose our imperfect human bodies in death], but clothed upon [be clothed with our heavenly dwelling], that mortality might be swallowed up of [by] life [immortality]. Now … Continue reading “What did the Apostle Paul mean when he said, “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord?” What happens when we die?”

As Christians what should we do if we have a verbally and physically abusive marriage?

As Christians we believe in the sanctity of marriage. In fact, the Bible presents marriage as a divine institution. God himself united Adam and Eve in holy matrimony, saying, “Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh” (Genesis 2:24). “Cleaving” suggests the idea of … Continue reading “As Christians what should we do if we have a verbally and physically abusive marriage?”

Is Apostle Peter teaching in Acts 3:19-20 that the nation of Israel would have to repent and be converted before Christ could return?

“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by … Continue reading “Is Apostle Peter teaching in Acts 3:19-20 that the nation of Israel would have to repent and be converted before Christ could return?”

Will it be a one-world government composed of united European nations ruled by the Antichrist prior to the return of Christ? Would the rapture of all Christians be at that time?

We are not of the opinion that there will be one-world government ruled by the antichrist, prior to the great time of trouble spoken of in Daniel 12:1. The term antichrist is mentioned in 1 John 2:18, 22; 4:3 and 2 John 7. But some other references to “antichrist” are “the man of sin,” “the … Continue reading “Will it be a one-world government composed of united European nations ruled by the Antichrist prior to the return of Christ? How can Matthew 18 be applied by the sinned against party (the parishioner) when the pastor and elders are the offending parties, having sinned against him?

We believe the scriptures teach that the administration of justice within the Church is a whole Church matter. Therefore, in the event that the pastor and elders are the offending parties, they would be subject to the same disciplinary process as any other Church member would be. We realize that many congregations frown upon this procedure … Continue reading “How can Matthew 18 be applied by the sinned against party (the parishioner) when the pastor and elders are the offending parties, having sinned against him?”

Why would a Christian think that prophets are no longer needed?

The concept of the five-fold ministry comes from Ephesians 4:11-13 which states, “It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until … Continue reading “Why would a Christian think that prophets are no longer needed?”
