What is the promise for? A promise is given to me so that I may know intelligently what God has planned for me, what God will give me and so what to claim. Those are the promises and they are intelligent directions. They rest upon the character and ability of the One who made them.1
——
Just how good are these promises? As good as the character of the One who made them.
How good is that?
Ah, this is the confidence we have. Faith says, “God is God!” He is a holy God who cannot lie, the God who is infinitely rich and who can make good on all of His promises! He is the God who is infinitely honest—He has never cheated anyone! He is the God who is infinitely true. Just as good and true as God is—that is how good and true His promises are.2
