SAVING
FAITH; FAITH: INTELLECTUAL ONLY; EVANGELISM: TRUE CONVERSION
There are some frank things that need to be expressed about saving faith in our day, for even in our evangelical Christian circles there is a basic misunderstanding of faith.
It is a simple matter to get people to come forward when the invitation is given. It is a simple matter to get them on their knees. Then what happens?
Someone rushes in with a marked New Testament, sticks a text under their nose, and demands, “Now, who said that?”
The kneeling person says, “God?”
“Do you believe God?”
“Yes.”
“Well, then, do you believe the text?”
“Yes. I must believe it because I believe God.”
“Well, then, get right up and testify.”
In so many cases, he gets up with an intellectual faith that has no saving quality.
