The Power Of Godly Christian Music – Bible study

In the lyrics of the hymns that we often sing, God combines the power of music along with His truth to draw His people closer to Himself (Ephesians 5:18-21; Colossians 3:16-17). In Deuteronomy 31-32, God instructs Moses to teach a new generation of Israelites a song that proclaimed Gods faithfulness, but it would also become a witness against them when they settled in the Promised Land and forsook Him (Deuteronomy 31:21).

The songs purpose was twofold:

1) It would show the Israelites that God had a right to their love (Deuteronomy 32:7-14). Also compare Deuteronomy 32:11 with Matthew 23:37).

2) It would call them back to Himself when they had come to the end of their own strength (Deuteronomy 32:36-39).

Brethren and friends, let us never underestimate the power of godly Christian music.
