Revelation 19:1-6 – A Praise Day – Bible study
Revelation 19:1-6 A Praise Day We come back to our series of messages from the Book of Revelation entitled The Major Events to Come. As we come back, we come to a Praise Day. Now, like yourselves, I imagine that everyday in heaven is a Praise Day; however, on this Praise Day, three things are being celebrated. I. \#19:1-4\ There is rejoicing over Gods person and His actions. A. I see the heavenly multitudes rejoice over three things in these first verses. 1. The multitudes rejoice over Gods power. 2. The multitudes rejoice over Gods justice. 3. The multitudes rejoice Satans judgment. B. God in His power and justice has destroyed the anti-Christs economical system-Babylon. 1. You may recall that God destroyed the anti-Christs religious system in chapter 17. 2. God destroys his economical system in chapter 18. 3. We will see that God destroys his military system in chapter 19. C. Why will there be such a celebration at the economical power of Satan being destroyed? Because with the numbering and tracking system the beast implemented in chapter 13, Gods people will have been greatly injured and killed by it. II. \#19:5-10\ There is rejoicing for the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. A. The Marriage Supper of the Lamb is a celebration of the joining of two-the Lord and the Lords church. 1. That means, after long last, the church and the Lord have officially and permanently been joined together. 2. This event has been in the mind of God for eons, but at this point, it is done. a. From this point, the church is complete. Rev 19:9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God. (1) No more will be added to it and none will ever be lost. (2) The church is a unique entity. (3) Its existence seems to run from the Day of Pentecost to the rapture of the church. (4) While others may come to know the Lord as their Savior after the rapture, they probably are not added to the church. (5) Rather, most believe they become part of spiritual Israel. b. By this point, the church will have been rewarded. 1Cor 3:12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every mans work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every mans work of what sort it is. 14 If any mans work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any mans work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. 2Cor 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. c. From this point, the church is united with Jesus. We will never be without Him. 1Thess 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. d. From this point, the church is pure. Rev 19:8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. (1) All of the sin and sins effects have been removed from the church. (2) Whats more, it is not possible that sin will ever effect the church in any way in the future. e. From this point, the church has all the powers of Christ. We will have been made "joint-heirs" with Jesus. Romans 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. f. From this point, the church will rule and reign with Christ 2Tim 2:12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: B. Sometimes, we on earth wonder at why the Lord placed such a high standard on marriage. 1. There is to be no impurity before marriage. Each mate is to keep himself/herself completely pure for their future partner. 2. Each marriage is to be one man, one woman, one lifetime. 3. God requires from both parties in a marriage 100% love, surrender, and sacrifice for the other. C. Many have moaned and complained about those standards. 1. The reason God placed such a high standard on marriage is because marriage is to picture the relationship that we are to have with Him for all eternity. 2. God has kept Himself for us and desires, at least after our salvation, that we keep ourselves for Him. 3. God is completely committed to us. a. He will not break this relationship throughout eternity. b. It is one church, one Lord, forever. 4. God has sacrificed Himself for us and will completely give Himself to make this a perfect union throughout all of eternity. III. \#Rev 19:11-21\ There is rejoicing for the anti-Christs army is destroyed. A. There is a lot about the battles of the Tribulation that we do not know. 1. We dont know what battles will take place or when they will take place. 2. The Bible tells us about several end-time battles. a. \#Eze 38:1-39:29\ Battle of Gog and Magog b. \#Rev 16:12-16\ Battle of Armageddon 3. What we are reading here is the Battle of Jerusalem also described in \#Zech 14:1-21\. B. In this battle, the forces of the anti-Christ will have conquered and destroyed all of Israel. 1. Even the very walls of Jerusalem will fall. Zech 14:2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. a. On this day, Satan thinks he has won. b. Now, Satan has thought he had the victory before, but it has eluded him repeatedly. (1) Satan thought he had the victory when he caused Adam and Eve to sin, but God gave them mercy. (2) Satan thought he had the victory when he deceived Israel and kept pulling them into sin, but God gave them mercy. (3) Satan thought he had the victory when he sent Herod after the Christ-child, but God delivered them. (4) Satan thought he had the victory when he had Jesus in the tomb, but God resurrected Him. (5) Satan thought he had the victory the dozens of times when he persecuted the church and thought he had snuffed out its light. c. But on this day, Satan will really think he has the victory. (1) His man, the anti-Christ, is on the throne. (2) He has his financial system so tightly screwed into place that no one can buy or sell without his permission. (3) He has an army that has walked across the world with nothing and no one to stand in his way. (4) And now he stands on the rubble of what was Jerusalem and leads away in chains the last of those who claim Jesus as their Savior! d. But then, what is that in the sky? 2. Then the Lord Himself shall descend to the earth, with His army of glorified saints behind Him. Zech 14:3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. 3. But the Lord alone shall fight. Rev 19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. Zech 14:12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth. 4. Those that are left of the nations will come to Jerusalem from year to year to worship Jesus. Zech 14:16 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles. C. At the end of this battle, 1. \#Rev 19:20\ The beast and his false prophet are cast into hell. 2. \#Rev 20:1-2\ The devil is cast into the bottomless pit that his demons abode on before their release. 3. The world gets to enjoy 1,000 year reign of Christ upon the earth.
