1Ch 2:5-8

1Ch 2:5-8

“The sons of Perez: Hezron, and Hamul. And the sons of Zerah: Zimri, and Ethan, and Heman, and Calcol, and Dara; five of them in all. And the sons of Carmi: Achar, the troubler of Israel, who committed a trespass in the devoted thing. And the sons of Ethan: Azariah.

E.M. Zerr:

1Ch 2:5-6. Since Pharez and Hezron, son and grandson of Tamar, are in the blood line, their names are set down in the record.

1Ch 2:7-8. Not all of the sons of Judah are named above, neither does this verse tell us that Carmi was one of them. But 1Ch 4:1 says he was, so in the present verse we should read the statements with him in mind. The special item of interest to us is the relation of Carmi to Achar, another form of Achan, famous for his sin at Jericho.
