And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth-gilead, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver [it] into the hand of the king.

(11) Prophesied.Nibbm, were prophesying. Vulg., prophetabant. In 2Ch. 18:9 the synonym mith-nabbem was used, which also signifies mad, raving Jer. 29:26). The root meaning of this word is probably visible in the Assyrian nab, to call, proclaim, so that the nb, or prophet, was the or spokesman of God, the herald of heaven to earth. (Comp. the name of the god Nebo, Nabium, who answers in the Babylonian Pantheon to the Greek Hermes.)
And prosperi.e., and thou shalt prosper. So LXX., . Vuig., prosperaberis. (Comp. This do, and live; and Gen. 20:7, he shall pray for thee, and live thou!)

Ver. 11. And all the prophets prophesied. ] See 1Ki 22:12 . With as much confidence as Jesuits offer to pawn their souls for the truth of their assertions, and tell us, that if we be not damned, they will be damned for us. Event, the master of fools, confuted these bold affirmers.
